Job Description:

Executive Director

The Executive Director of the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium reports to the Board and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. More specifically, the Executive Director has the following duties:

Program development and administration

  • Provide leadership within the Board and management staff in discussions of program development, organizational details, long-range strategy, and financial matters, and then direct implementation of plans and policies authorized by the Board.
  • Work with the Board Chair to set Board meeting agendas.


  • See that the Board is kept fully informed about the well-being of the organization and all relevant factors that affect it.
  • Work with the Publicity Committee to publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.
  • Oversee production of the CVEC Newsletter and website.
  • Maintain sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.

Management staff

  • Maintain and supervise an effective staff management team.  With the Board, help recruit new staff members as needed.

Budget and finance

  • Work with the Treasurer, Finance Director, and Finance Committee to maintain appropriate fiscal policies, carry out sound financial practices, and present an annual budget to the Board for its approval.
  • Oversee the annual fund drive.


  • Work with the Curriculum Director and the Curriculum Committee to create a rich program of courses each term.
